Fat soluble, good for the eyes (prevents night blindness), found as carotene which is a yellow pigment

Helps use carbs for energy. Deficiency results in beriberi
Vitamin B2 Riboflavin
Maintains smooth skin. Deficiency results in premature aging
Vitamin B3 Niacin
Helps the body use other nutrients. Deficiency results in pellagra
Vitamin B9 Folic Acid
Helps keep red blood cells healthy. Deficiency results in a form of anemia
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Water soluble vitamin that makes healthy bones and teeth. It forms collagen which binds together the cells of body tissue. Deficiency results in scurvy.

Fat soluble vitamin created in body when skin is exposed to sunlight. Deficiency is rickets

Minerals
Help regulate body process, calcium phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine, potassium, sodium

Minerals needed in small amounts; iron, iodine, and zinc
Calcium and Phosphorus
Build healthy bones and teeth, lack of calcium results in osteoporosis
Sodium
Maintains water balance in the body
Potassium
Maintains healthy heart and nerves
Iron
Makes up hemoglobin which carries oxygen to the cells of the body. Deficiency results in anemia.
Iodine
Necessary for the thyroid to regulate metabolism. Lack of iodine produces a goiter.
Magnesium
Helps nerves and muscles. Makes up part of skeleton, soft tissues and blood, helps body use protein and carbs
