Supplements containing Vitamin D should be considered for all pregnant and breastfeeding women and children aged under 4 years to prevent vitamin D deficiency
What do we sometimes give alfacalcidiol or calcitriol?
Vitamin D requires hydroxylation by the kidney to its active form, therefore the hydroxylated derivates alfacalcidiol or calcitriol should be prescribed if the patients with severe renal impairment need vitamin D therapy
What is Calcitriol also lisenced for?
The treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
What is Paricalcitol licensed for?
prevention and treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism associated with CKD
What is Vitamin K necessary for?
Production of blood clotting factors and proteins necessary for the normal calcification of bone.
