Ribs, lumbar vertebrae, pelvic bones, and all body prominence are visible from a distance. No body fat, absence of muscle mass
1- emaciated
Ribs easily palpitated and may be visible. Tops of lumbar vertebrae visible, obvious waste and abdominal tuck
2-thin
Ribs palpable without excess fat, abdomen tucked up when viewed from side
3- moderate
General fleshy appearance, ribs palpable with difficulty, notable fat deposits, abdominal tuck may be absent
4- stout
Large fat deposits over chest, spine, and tail base. Waist and abdominal tucks absent, abdomen distended.
5- obese
