Possible Causes of High Blood Pressure
Medical Condition, exertion, fright, emotional distress, excitement
Possible Causes of Low Blood Pressure
Athlete or other person with normally low blood
pressure; blood loss; late sign of shock
Infant & Children - When to take a blood pressure
Blood pressure is usually not taken on a child under 3 years, although this may vary from system
to system. In cases of blood loss or shock, a child’s blood pressure will remain within normal limits until near the end, then
fall swiftly.
What causes dilated pupil
Fright, blood loss, drugs, prescription eye drops
What causes constricted pupil
Drugs (narcotics), prescription eye drops
What causes Unequal pupils
Stroke, head injury, eye injury, artificial eye, prescription eye drops

Drugs, lack of oxygen to brain

What causes a Rapid, Regular & Full pulse quality
Exertion, fright, fever, high blood pressure, first stage of blood loss
What causes a Rapid, Regular & Thready pulse quality
Shock, later stages of blood loss
What causes a slow pulse quality
Head injury, drugs, some poisons, some heart problems, lack of oxygen in children
What causes no pulse
Cardiac arrest (clinical death)
Is a high pulse rate a concern in Infants and children
A high pulse in an infant or child is not as great a concern as a low pulse. A low pulse may indicate
imminent cardiac arrest.
