Vital Signs
Temperature of a person (normal average: 98.6 activity; food/fluid; and time of day)
Body Temperature
Measures the heart rate
Pulse Rate (Heart Rate)
Measures the breath
Respiration Rate (Breathing)
Force of blood pushing against arterial walls when the heart beats
Blood Pressure
Measure the amount of oxygen in the blood (fifth vital sign)
Pulse Oximetry
Force of blood against arterial walls when the heart contracts
Systolic Pressure
Force of blood against walls when the heart relaxes
Diastolic Pressure
When body temperature gets too high: Heat exhaustion (101-104) and heatstroke (above 104)
Hyperthermia
When body temperature is to low (below 95)
Hypothermia
Blood pressure is to high
Hypertension
Blood pressure is to low
Hypotension
