What is composition? (Cinematography)

A

The director positions setting and characters in a frame. Positioning related to setting. Contains focal point, which affects the way you respond. Proximity between characters is the proxemic range.

What does line mean? (Cinematography)

A

Used to create atmosphere or mood.

  • Horizontal lines = peace/harmony
  • Vertical lines = strength/spiritual learnings
  • Diagonal lines = movement/activity

A

  • Lighting above = positive
  • Lighting behind = negative
  • Key lighting - provides/highlights main source
