Visual Pathways - Exam #3 Flashcards
Where are most of your cones?
In the fovea/central vision/central retina
What is located in your peripheral retina?
Some cones, but mostly rods
What is the difference with the Ganglion Cell convergence factors in the peripheral retina and the central retina?
A Ganglion Cell receives inputs from many rods in the peripheral retina, while a Ganglion Cell receives inputs from few cones in the central retina
What kind of organization do Ganglion Cells have?
Center-Surround Organization
What does a Center-surround organization look like?
Two circles, one surrounds the other
What happens when a stimulus/light only takes up a little of the inner circle for a Ganglion Cell?
It fires a little above it’s baseline firing rate
