Facial Expression
Manipulation of muscles that convey emotion to the viewer.
Body Language
The impressions given from a persons stature
Gaze
This refers to where a persons looking conveying emotion and viewers attempt to interpret their thoughts
Movement
This relates to whether the people in an image are progressive or stagnant.
- Commonly suggests action or ignorance
Gesture
Suggests emotional states or situations
Clothing/Costume
How clothing choices adding meaning - what is suggests about a characters background, personality and status
Proximity
Refers to how close or far apart people are.
Conveys tension and comments on relationships between characters depending on their proximity
Camera Angles
- Low camera angles
- High camera angles
- Eye level camera angle
- Birds eye view camera angle
Low camera angle
Camera is low to the ground, placing image at an angle that implies superiority, power, threat or significance
High camera angle
The camera is looking down on the object. May imply weakness, vulnerability or insignificance.
Eye level camera angle
Implies equality, not as powerful effect. However, places both viewer and angled object to identify with each other.
Birds eye view camera angle
Make object appear small and insignificance. Normally used to establish setting

- Extreme close up shot
- Close up shot
- Mid shot
- Long shot
Extreme close up shot
Shows things in great detail. Analyses feelings in the eyes
Close up shot
Isolates the full face captures emotion and facial expressions
