Viscosity Flashcards
Does ketchup have a greater viscosity or smaller?
Higher,
What is viscosity
Viscosityvis the term for the resisteance that a fluid has to flowing and movement.
What does it mean to have a higher viscosity?
Its thick (higher density)
What does it mean to have a lower viscosity?
The particle attraction is smaller so they can flow past one another more easily
How does tempature affect viscosity?
When its colder the particles are closer together, volume is smaller. (D=m/v) when volume decreases the density increases. When the particles having a stronger attraction, they cant flow past one another as easy, giving it higher viscosity
The colder the fluid the..?
The higher viscosity
The warmer the fluid the..?
The lower the viscosity
How is the force of attraction between particles cahnged
When the particles are heated , they vibrate faster loosing there strong attraction
When temp goes up what happens
Volume goes up
Density goes down
Viscosity goes down
Buoyancys goes down
When temp goes down what happens
Volume goes down with it
Denisty goes up
Viscosity goes up
Buoyancy goes up
