Viruses Flashcards
dsDNA viruses
these are viral particles with double stranded DNA and
include Herpesviruses, Poxviruses, and Adenoviruses
These are single stranded, DN a viruses with a positive strand meaning the strand is red by RNA to make proteins directly. These include Pavo viruses.
SSDNA, viruses
These are unique in that they involve double-stranded RNA and include Rio virus particles
DSRNA viruses
These are single stranded RNA viruses that are also positive strands that get directly turned into proteins. They include toga viruses and pic orno viruses
Positive s’s RNA viruses
These are single stranded negative strand RNA viruses. A positive strand needs to he made in order to read the RNA to make protein. These include orthomyxoviruses and rhabdoviruses.
Negative ssrna viruses
These are positive strand viruses that use reverse transcriptase an enzyme that has a DNA intermediate before making protein as part of their lifecycle, these include retrovinceses
Ssrna rt viruses
These are double stranded DNA viruses with RNA intermediate in the lifecycle including hepadnaviruses
