Viruses Flashcards
To teach about viruses.
1
Q
What is a virus?
A
Viruses are noncellular particles made up of genetic material and protein that can invade living cells.
Virus are bits of nucleic acid that ‘escaped’ from cellular organism.
Some traces are from animal cells, plant cells and bacterial cells.
2
Q
How do viruses multiply?
A
They can only multiply if in another living cell
3
Q
Are Viruses Living or Non-living?
A
Biologists consider viruses to be non-living because:
Are not cells
Do not grow or respond to their surroundings
Cannot make food, take in food, or produce wastes
Viruses do not respond to stimuli.
They can only multiply if in another living cell
4
Q
What are the three types of viruses?
A
Polyhedral Viruses
Complex Viruses
Helical Viruses
