Plato assumed people only act bad out of benefit of themself/others

Purpose or telos
Realise your full potential and thus fulfill your goal and achieve your final cause
Ultimate goal for humans is eudaimonia - to achieve this involved developing those characteristics best suited to a person becoming virtuous
