Sexy POO Better Come + My Penis is So Good

entry: Sexual transmission, Perinatally via birth canal (together with herpes simplex, HBV is via blood contact at birth) and breast milk, Oral, Organ transplant, Blood transfusion, Congenitally via placenta.
exit: Mammary glands, Placenta, Salivary gland, Genital tract.

Q

Live Vaccines

A

“Live! One night only! See Small Yellow Chickens, Canines, Marek’s turkeys, Pigs get VACCINIAted with Sabin’s and MMR!” RoAR!

Vaccinia virus for smallpox (caused by variola virus),
Yellow fever virus
Chickenpox (VZV)
Canine distemper virus
Turkey herpes virus for Marek’s disease virus
Pig herpes virus/pseudorabies virus (genetically engineered live attenuated)
Sabin’s for polio
Measles, Mumps, Rubella
Rinderpest virus
Hepatitis A
Rabies (genetically engineered live vaccinia virus with rabies glycoprotein gene)

All are attenuated mutants of the wild type apart from vaccines for variola virus, Marek’s disease virus, and rabies virus for which live related viruses are used.

29
Q

Dead Vaccines

A

RIP Always, Forever Best Pals and Mates

Rabies (killed or immunoglobulin)
Influenza (subunit)
Polio (Salk)
HAV
Foot and mouth disease virus
Hepatitis B virus (genetically engineered subunit or immunoglobulin)
Human papillomavirus types 16+18 (genetically engineered subunit)
Measles (maternal antibodies via milk)

All are killed whole viruses, otherwise mentioned in brackets.

Dead vaccines mostly induce antibody but NOT cellular immunity.

30
Q

Enveloped viruses

A

All group 5,6,7 + herpesvirus, poxvirus, flavivirus/togavirus, coronavirus.
