Virology Flashcards
DNA virus that doesn’t replicate in nucleus
poxvirus
RNA virus that jdoesn’t replicate in the cytoplasm
influenza virus and retrovirus
what virus gets envelope from nuclear membrane
herpes virus
nonlinear DNA virus
papilloma and polyoma (circular and supercoiled + hepadna (circular incomplete)
How is poxvirus weird and what does this mean about infectivity
Its the only one that replicates in cytoplasm. Uses its own DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Its the reason it can’t infect as a naked viral genome.
Why can’t hepadnavirus infect with just viral genome
has a reverse transcriptase
How is parvovirus unique
Only ss DNA. Smallest. ONly has parvovirus
What area causes splenomegaly in EBV
periarterial lymphatic sheath
EBV generalized lymphadenopthy is hyperplasia of what?
Paracortex
Owl eye inclusion
CMV
CMV latent in
mononuclear cells
Multinucleated giant cell
HSV 1,2 VZV - also see intranuclear inclusions
Ways to identify HSV
Viral culture of skin/genitalia
CSF PCR
Tzank test of opened skin vesicle
