Give two features of a village in 1066 ?
A
- A church- very important for religious reason many built from wood and some stone
- Many villages contained just 12-15 houses owned by Ceorls and peasants
- Extra: a plough which was a valuable item as it was essential for making crops

- store houses
- guest houses
- stables
- servant houses
- a stone built chapel
- training area for his soldiers

- mainly built out of wood but some stone

How were houses made ?

Wattle and daub
- wattle could be sticks
- Daub was wet soil, clay and sand which acted as a cement
- did make homes waterproof but often needed repairs
