The role of Viking women
The lady of the house hold (wife) had to see to it that the food lasted during the winter, she would make most if the food eg:butter, cheese, dried and smoked meat and fish for storage,she was expected to know about herb for making medicine and to care for the sick and wounded , farm animals were her responsiblity, and when the husband went trading, hunting or “Viking” she would run the farm in his absence, in rich families the wife would have servants and slaves to help her

Richer women would have jewelry of sliver and gold, farm animals, even farms as a part of drowry
Rules about property in a marriage
Everything she brought remain hers and did not fully become part of her husbands estate, her children would in turn inherit the property as a part of there maternal inheritance
Why would divorce happen
If the husband mistreated her or he was too lazy to be a good provider or insulted her family she could divorce him
How could you become divorce
She would call witnesses , in ground of the witnesses she stood and the front door, at the couples bed and then declared herself divorced fro, her husband .
What would happen with the children in divorce
Babies and toddlers automatically stayed with the mother , bigger children were divided between between parents according to wealth and status of birth families.
Why did Viking women have more legal rights than most women in Europe at the time
Because of her right to property, inheritance and divorce, children were also protected by the law as members of the family, and their rights to inheritance even after a divorce
