What kind of ship did raiders use?
Viking warriors and raiders sailed aboard revolutionary longship whose dragon-shaped prow heads inspired terror = Drakkar ships.
What were the ships that traders use? Describe them.
Vikings traders, explorers and settlers used a different types of ship called the Nar. It was made deeper and wider to carry goods, livestocks and people accros the ocean
When did they establish a kingdom? How long did they stay?
866 - Danish Vikings establish a kingdom in York, England ( North ). They remained in england up to 1066. So from 866 to 1066 = about 2 centuries
Explain what the Danelaw and Danegeld were.
Danelaw = old English. It is the historical name given to the part of Great Britain in which the laws of the Dans dominated those of Anglo-sacios. The part of britain which was part of the danelaw is now northern and easter England
Denegel = taxes raided to pay tribute to the vikings raiders to save a land from being ravaged
When did the Danes first conquer then rule England?
1013 - The Danes conquer England; Æthelred flees to Normandy.
1016 - The Danes under Knut (Canute) rule England but in 1042 an Anglo-saxons king was back on the throne of England
what other sources can provide evidence of the Vikings’ settlement in Britain?
Archaeology, study of place names and language ( egg, ball, awe or root ), DNA analysis ( genetic )
What does the author of the article deplore about the written sources?
They are limited and most of them are inventions from the nineteenth-century and they spread some fake popular ideas. ( stereotype )
the value of the written evidence is limited : uninformative or unreliable
Why is the ‘Viking Age’ considered as part of the ‘Dark Ages’?
no contemporary written sources so it’s seen as part of prehistory : few historical records have survived.
a few = some, quite a few = a lot and ( just ) few = not many

fairly short inscription on large memorial stones, achievement of the person commemorated, they refer to historical events thanks to they recits of achievement to the person ( eulogy - who died, we can know when or where a battle started or who won
