Look for:
- Velar Elevation: nasal reflux
- Epiglottic Inversion: penetration and valleculae retention
- Laryngeal Elevation: valleculae retention, penetration, pyriform retention
- Vocal Fold adduction: penetration, aspiration
- Peristalsis: pharyngeal retention

MBS- Esophageal Phase
A
Look for:
- Cricopharyngeal dilation: pyriform retention
- Peristalsis: esophageal retention
- Structural integrity: stenosis (narrowing), fistula (passage), diverticulum (passage)

A
- Visualize all phases of the swallow
- Can often ID contributing impairment
- Can see compensatory strategy effectiveness
