Victim Includes….
A person against whom a offence is committed
A person who, by means of an offence suffers physical injury or loss of property
A parent or legal guardian of a child victim
A member of immediate family of a person who dies or is incapable as a result of an offence
Immediate Family Include….
Member of immediate family or other culturally recognised family group, includes person who’s relationship with the victim at the time is close - spouse step family grandfather etc.

Officers must show victims courtesy, compassion and respect for their personal dignity and privacy
Police Must Always Refer To Victim Support When….
The incident is serious
The victims are significantly affected by the incident
The victims are likely to be involved with the justice system for an extended period

Access to
Victims and their families should have access to welfare, health, counselling, medical and legal assistance as required

To ensure that police staff meet the requirements of the victims rights act 2002. A copy must be attached to every file where a victim is involved
