Why did hunters gathers move from place to place?
(i) if they would’ve stayed in one place, they woud’ve exhausted all the available resources
(ii) they hunted animals and hence, followed them from place to place
(iii) moved season to season in search of plants since plants & trees bear fruits in different seasons
(iv) those who lived on the banks of seasonal rivers would go in search of water during dry seasons

how were grasslands developed? what did this lead to?
12,000 years ago, there was a major change in climate which led to a shift to warmer conditions. this led to the development of grasslands due to which the population of deer, antelop, sheep and cattle increased.
herding & rearing started and fishing became important
how did people become farmers?
when several grain bearing plants(barely, wheat and rice), started growing naturally, people learnt about them and their behaviour and this led to people becoming farmers.
how did people become herders?
(i)started taming animals by leaving food near their shelters
1st animal to be tamed-wild ancestor of dog
(ii)encouraged gentle animals to come near the camps where they lived
(iii)protected animals from attacks
how did people start staying in the same place for long periods of time?
when they grew plants, they had to stay in the same place for a long time since they had to look after the plants. and after its ripening, they had to ensure its careful use.
how were grains stored?
(i) clay pots
(ii) woven baskets
(iii) pits in the ground
how did animals become a ‘store’ of food?
animalss multiply naturally and they provide milk which is an important source of food & meat
