Means only RCVS qualified vet surgeons can perform surgery in the UK
What’s the role of a vet nurse?
Restraining animals, prepping and assisting in surgery, administering treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
How could a vet practice reduce waste?
Buy bulk bags of food/ litter to minimise packaging waste, they could also use paper-free management systems.
Examples of offensive waste
Animal faeces, bedding, disposable gloves or aprons, and protective gowns
What is WEEE waste?
Waste electronic and electrical equipment (anything with a plug or battery)
What are symptoms of Avian Influenza?
Respiratory distress, diarrhoea, fever, muscle or body aches, nausea and fatigue.
What are symptoms of cryptosporidosis?
Watery diarrhoea, stomach cramps and pain.
What do vets do on a farm?
Check fertility and overall health of agriculture animals, and they’ll generally go back for checkups every few weeks.

What’s chlorhexidine for?
Used for skin disinfection and cold sterilisation. Found in hand gels, wound creams & mouth washes. It has weak antibacterial activity. It’s often mixed with a detergent to produce a surgical skin scrub, eg. Hibiscrub.
