VERY IMPT FOR WA3!!! Flashcards
What is the formula for moments
F x D
What is the principle of moments?
When an object is at equilibrium, the sum of clockwise
moments about any pivot is equal to the sum of anticlockwise
moments about the same pivot.
What is the Centre of Gravity
Center of gravity is defined as the point through which the entire
weight of the object appears to act.
What makes and object have a toppling moment?
When the line of action of CG falls outside of its base
What are the 2 conditions for an object to be in equilibrium
1) Resultant forces must be zero
2) Resultant moment must be zero
What makes an object have a restoring moment
When the line of action of the CG falls inside of its base area
What is the principle of conservation of energy
The principle of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed but can only change from one form to another or transferred from one body to another but the total amount of energy in the system is always constant.
What is the formula for kinetic energy
1/2(M)(V)squared
What is the formula for GPE
Mass x Gravitational field strength x Height
What is the formula for work done
W.D = F x d
What is the Formula for Effciency
Useful output/Total output x 100%
What is the formula for power?
Work done/time OR Total energy/time
What is the formula for pressure
Pressure= Force/Area
What is the formula for pressure in fluids
P= Rho(g)(h)
What is the formula for pressure in a hydrualic system?
p= F1/A1 = F2/A2
