Vertebrae Flashcards
What is the body?
Front of the vertebrae
Where are the transverse processes on the vertebrae
On the side
Where are the spinous processes
On the back
What are the contact points?
Facet and the body of the vertebrae stacking
What is a typical thoracic like?
Body is larger than cervical, facet orientation points in different directions to allow for more movement,
Spinous Processes: longer - you will never get alot of extension or flexion on this part of the spine
What is a typical lumbar like?
Body is larger than the thoracic and this is important for weight barring
Facet orientation: allows for better flexor and extensors
Spinous processes are blunt
Can limit back-bending capabilities
What is a typical cervical spine like
Body is smaller than the others
Facet orientation: extend, flex, bend
Spinous processes- smaller and outward
What are the 3 weight-bearing points?
Disc (in the front), facet joints (in the back), body
