Verses Flashcards
Why do we love?
1 John 4:19
We love because He first loved us.
Great Commission
Matthew 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.””
What is love?
1 John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
Despite Trouble, Jesus Overcomes the World
John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!”
We are the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven
Do not worry about tomorrow.
Matthew 6:31-34
So do not worry saying What shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear. For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need theme. But seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Christ is freedom for the weary and lightens our burdens
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Becoming like a child for the kingdom
Matthew 18:2-5
“He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Exaltation vs humility
Matthew 23:11-12
The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Helping others as Christ
Matthew 25:40
The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
