What the hell is a verb?

Basically its two thing. Most commonly its the action word. But its also the “state of being”. So even though we always thought that verb is just an action word, no, it also represents state of being.

Question 2

Since verb is an action word and “state of being”, what do we mean by “state of being”?

Answer 2

These stand alone and connect the subject to a state or condition. They don’t help another verb.

Examples:

She is happy. → “is” stands alone and links the subject to the state “happy”

He was a teacher. → “was” shows identity or condition
