Type 2 Verbs

What happens to the る when conjugating?

A

Ends with ‘eru’ (える) or ‘iru’ (いる)

Eg: 食べる (たべる) - to eat、寝る(はしる) - to run、走る(ねる) - to sleep

*When conjugating Type 2 verbs, the る ending is dropped

A

All other verbs that don’t fit into Type 1 or Type 2.

Eg: のむ

*If the ending is u, verb conjugation will be wa i u e o, instead of a i u e o.
