Ventricular EKG Flashcards
What is Brugada Syndome?
What is its inheritance pattern?
A congenital Na+, K+, or Calcium channel mutation.
Autosomal dominant (MC in S.E Asian Males)
Increased risk for Vtac or Vfib
What EKG findings would cue you into Brugada Syndrome?
ST segment elevation in leads V1 to V3.
Neg. T wave deflection (coved morphology)
May be saddleback-shaped patterns in Type II or III.
Large R and S waves.
What ventricular rhythm is caused by blunt force trauma to the chest?
Commotio Cordis (Vfib)
What is the rate of ventricular tachyarrhythmia?
250-350bpm
Progresses to V-Fib very quickly
What are some potential causes of Ventricular arrhythmias?
Short QT syndrome
Catecholaminergic Polymorphic VT
Arrhythmogenic RVH
HOCM
What is the treatment for Ventricular arrhythmias?
Antiarrhythmics
Defib
Ablation
What are some examples of Antiarrhythmic drugs a provider can prescribe for ventricular dysrhythmias?
Na+ Channel blockers
Beta-adrenergic blockers
K+ Channel Blockers
Calcium channel Blockers
What are two examples of Calcium channel blockers you can Rx?
Verapamil
Diltiazem
What are some examples of Beta-adrenergic blockers?
Propranolol, metoprolol, atenolol, esmolol, acebutolol
Amiodarone works by what MOA?
Blocks K+ channels
Lidocaine and quinidine are examples of drugs which block which channels?
Sodium channels
What is the First Line Therapy for management of VT/VF?
Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator
