what 4 things can veneers do
- change color
- change shape
- close spaces
- add length
what materials are used for veneers
-feldspathetic porcelain and lithium disilicate
what are contraindications for veneers
- poor oral hygiene
- extensive loss of enamel
- unhealthy or unstable periodontium
- unreasonable esthetic demands
- functional concerns (posterior open bite, anterior cross bite)
what are the facial reduction depth cuts for veneer preparation?
.3 mm, follow curve and contour of the tooth!!!!!
what were the depth cuts we did for our veneer preps incisally
which bur?
1.5 to 2 mm (using 878 14 bur)
how much reduction did we take facially at incisal, middle, gingival regions
FACILALY:
we want to take .3 mm at gingival (very little, depth amount because theres LESS enamel here!)
we want to take .5 mm in middle of tooth,
we want to take .7 mm incisal area
how much did we take proximally on veneer prep
half of incisal from buccal to lingual directioN!! kinda creating a little edge there
where should you smooth optidisc, why?
smooth facial incisal internal angle of the prep!!!! the NUMBER 1 reason for veneer failure is fracture!
veneer PROVISIONALs; what are 2 solutions for bonding it
- spot bond technique: small dot of etch on mid facial, then rinse. place. asmall amount of bonding agent on the same area. Bond temp with flowable or build up with composite (single unit?)
- shrink wrap technique: use smile design putty, place integrity into putty and place on teeth. allow integrity to set on teeth. trim excess carefully with high speed and diamond bur..
whats the bonding prtoocol for veneers?
- ISOLATION : Isodry or rubber dam
- FULL BONDING PROTOCOL ( prelude primer, prelude adhesive, prelude link– yellow brick rode– yellow black red- in order here)
also NEXUS w\universal adhesive resin cement for cementing it
