Velocity/acceleration Flashcards
Acceleration
increase in speed in m/s squared not including a direction.
Velocity
It is a vector quantity both magnitude and direction are needed to call it velocity.
deacceleration
the rate at which something slows down.
Scalar
having only magnitude, not direction
Vector
a quantity having direction as well as magnitude
Centre of mass
is the point at which its mass can be thought of as being concentrated.
Speed
Distance/time
Gradient= change in x/ changed in y = change in distance/change in time.
= change in x/ changed in y = change in distance/change in time.
Average speed
total distance/the time
Balanced force
two forces acting in opposite directions on an object, and are both equal in size
Unbalanced force
Tow forces acting in opposite directions and have unequal sizes
Friction
a force that holds back the movement of a sliding object
