Valves and Murmers Flashcards
Aortic stenosis
Systolic; R 2nd intercostal space during systole
Tricuspid regurgitation
systolic; R 5th intercostal space (back to RA, so “downstream to RA”)
Tricupsid Stenosis
Diastolic; L 5th intercostal space (Normally where tricuspid auscultation is)
Pulmonary Regurgitation
Diastolic; L 5th intercostal space over RV
Pulmonic Stenosis
systolic; above LA: behind: 2nd costal cartilage (by sternum)
Mitral Regurgitation
systolic; Left axilla
Aortic Regurgitation
diastolic murmur at apex of heart (At the 5th left intercostal space at the midclavicular line just below the left nipple.)
Mitral Stenosis
diastolic; LV: At the 5th left intercostal space at the midclavicular line just below the left nipple.
Tricuspid Valve Ausculatation
best over R ventricle in L 5th intercostal space at L sternal margin
mitral valve auscultation
best over LV in L 5th intercostal space ~3 inches to left of the sternum
aortic valve auscultation
best over ascending aorta in the R 2nd intercostal space at the sternal margin
pulmonic valve
best over pulm trunk in L 1st/2nd intercostal space at L sternal margin
