How to promote equality and diversity?
Equality - Staff using non-discriminatory language or behaviour. Access to care services for everyone, ramp for wheelchair users, information leaflets in a range of languages, braille or font and hearing loops.
Diversity - Offer choices, menu with a range of food/dietary/allergy needs, variety of activities in care homes.
How to maintain confidentiality?
Private information shared by care workers on a need-to-know basis only. Information about an individual should by kept in a score filing cabinet or password protected on an iPad or computer that only care workers directly involved have access to.
How to promote individual rights and beliefs?
Rights - Mobility, dietary and communication needs are met, make sure all areas are accessible for everyone, not make decisions for people/ask them, female or male staff available to meet cultural requirements.
Beliefs - All homes celebrate range of festivities Eid, Chinese new year, Hanukkah, Christmas, have a prayer room, culture and dietary needs are met.
