imposed from our family in
childhood and reinforced through
culture and life experiences.
VALUES FORMATION
are individual beliefs that
motivate people to act one
way or another. They serve
as a guide for human
behavior.
VALUES
Type of values that reflect how you show up in your life and your specific needs-the principles you live by and what you consider important for your self-interest.
include: enthusiasm, creativity, humility and personal fulfillment.
INDIVIDUAL VALUES
Type of values that reflect how you
relate to other people in your life, be
they friends, family or colleagues in
your organization.
include: openness, trust, generosity and caring.
RELATIONSHIP VALUES
Type of values that reflect how
your organization shows up and
operates in the world.
include:
financial growth, teamwork,
productivity and strategic alliances.
ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES
Type of values that reflect how you or
your organization relates to society.
include:
future generations, environmental
awareness, ecology and sustainability.
SOCIETAL VALUES
Conflict Values:
are caused by competition over
perceived incompatible needs. It results when one or more of the parties believe that in order to satisfy his or her needs, the needs and interests of an opponent must be sacrificed.
Interest Conflicts
Conflict Values:
occur because of the presence of strong negative emotions, misperceptions or stereotypes, poor
communication or miscommunication, or repetitive negative behaviors.
Relationship Conflicts
Conflict Values:
occur when people lack information necessary to make wise decisions, are misinformed, disagree on which data is relevant, interpret information differently, or have competing
assessment procedures.
Data Conflicts
Conflict Values:
are caused by forces external to the people in dispute. Limited physical resources or authority,
geographic constraints (distance or proximity), time (too little or too much), organizational changes, and so forth can make structural conflict seem like a crisis.
Structural Conflicts
Conflict Values:
are caused by perceived or actual
incompatible belief systems.
