Validity Flashcards
What is validity?
Whether the results are genuine and can be generalised outside the experiment.
What is internal validity?
Whether the effects are due to the manipulation of the independent variable rather than other factors.
What is ecological validity?
Whether you can generalise results from one setting to another
What is temporal validity?
Whether the results hold true over time.
What is face validity?
Whether a test measures what it is supposed to measure.
What is concurrent validity?
When results obtained are close to recognised results.
How do you improve validity in experimental research?
Use a control group, standardise procedures, use double blind procedures, use questionnaires, use observations, use qualitative methods.
