Define vaginal atrophy.
A
Inflammation of the vagina due to thinning and shrinking of the tissues. Commonly caused by a lack of oestrogen.

What is the first line for the treatment of vaginal atrophy?
A
An oestrogen containing cream applied on a short-term basis to improve the vaginal epithelium. Should be used in the smallest effective amount to minimise systemic effects.
