“Bacille Calmette Guerin”’
D
Diptheria toxoid
TT
Tetanus toxoid
aP/acP
Acellular pertussis vaccine
- against whooping cough
- contains pertussis toxoid + filamentous hemagglutinin-, pertacin-, fimrbia-antigens
DTaP/DaPT
Combination of D, TT and acP (toxoid)
IPV
Inactivated poliovirus vaccine (Salk vaccine)
OPV
Oral polio vaccine (sabin)
- not used in hungary anymore because of its side-effects
- easier to administer than IPV
Hib
Hemophilius influenzae b-vaccine
- polysaccharide capsule of serotype b H.influenzae
PCV13
13 valent s.pneumoniae vaccine "pneumococcal conjugate vaccine" - polysaccharide capsules of 13 serotypes - CONJUGATED to proteins - Given to children
HepB
HbsAg - Hepatitis B surface antigen (subunit)
PPSV23
23 valent s.pneumoniae vaccine
- polysaccharide capsule
- for older adults and chronically ill
MEAS
Live attenuated measles virus
MUMPS
Live attenuated mumps virus
RUBE
Live attenuated rubeola virus
MMR
Combination of MEAS, MUMPS, RUBE (attenuated)
HPV9
Human papilloma virus
- purified protein of 9 serotypes of the virus
IIV3
Inactivated influenza virus
- contains envelope of 3 influenza virus serotypes
VZV
Live attenuated varicella zoster virus vaccine
Name all the obligatory childhood vaccines in Hungary
BCG - Live attenuated M.bovis
DaPT - Diptheria and tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis(toxoid)
IPV - Inactivated polio virus
Hib - H.influenzae b - capsule
MMR - measles, mumps and rubella - attenuated
Hepatitis B - Subunit
S.pneumoniae - capsule polysaccharide-protein conjugated
Varicella - attenuated
What is Live attenuated bacteria?
Live strains without virulence
What is a toxoid vaccine?
Formalin inactivated toxin
What are the optional vaccines in Hungary?
Influenza - attenuated or inactivated
HPV - Recombinant virus-like particles
Meningococcus - capsule polysaccharide
vaccines for people travelling to endemic areas
Yellow fever - attenuated Salmonella typhi - killed or live Diphteria Polyomyelitis - polivalent poliovaccine Hepatitis A - inactivated Hepatitis B - Recombinant HBsAg Meningococcus meningitis - caspule polysaccharide (A, C, W135, Y) Rabies - inactivated lyssavirus
Vaccination for people at risk of infection
Salmonella typhi Diphteria Pertussis Tetanus - animal bite, deep wound Rabies - animal bite MMR Hepatitis B - newborn of HBV positive mother
What does active immunisation mean?
Immune response is stimulated by exposure to microbes or their antigens in vaccines
What does passive immunisation mean?
Injection of purified antibodies or antibody-containing serum (antiserum)
Does NOT involve the immune system, so only protection for a short time.
