Which adults should receive Hepatitis B vaccine?
adolescents though age 18 and adults who are at high risk (people who were not vaccinated as infants and are from from endemic regions; immigrants; men who have sex with men, healthcare workers; injection drug users
Transmitted by blood, sex, injection
What is the Hep B screening test?
HBsAg, HBsAb, core antigens etc
Which adults should receive the influenza vaccine?
Anyone
- children ages 6mos
- pregnant women, immunosuppressed, older adults, nursing home residents, healthcare personnel
Which adults should receive the pneumococcal vaccine?
all adults over age 65!
-if you have heart or pulmonary disease; immunocompromised; living in high risk areas
Which adults should get the Rubella vaccine?
women and kids who never got it as a child
-DO NOT GIVE TO PR(EGNANT WOMEN or those who are immunocompromised (except those who test positive for HIV)
How often is the Tetanus booster given?
every ten years
- give prophylaxis for wounds if the vaccination hx if unknown or if they haven’t received all three series
- give tetanus immunoglobulin
So when do you get it first and when is the next batch given?
at 2 mos old and then at age 11.
