Prime number
Is a whole number that has only 2 factors, 1 and the number itself.
Composite number
Is a number greater then 1 with more the two factors.
Powers
A product of prime factors can be written using exponents and a base number expressed using exponents are called powers.
Variable
Is a symbol, usually a letter, used to represent a number.
Algebraic expression
Are combinations of variables, numbers, and at least one operation.
Equation
Is a sentence that contains an equal sign
Solution
The value for the variable is the solution of the equation
Area
Of a figure is the number of square units needed to cover a surface.
Bar graph
Shows the number of items in a specific category.
Line graph
Shows change over a period of time.
Stem-and-leaf plot
Lists all individual numerical data in a condensed form.
Line plot
Shows how many times each number occurs in the data.
Mean
Is the most common measure of central tendency. It is an average, so it describes all of the data in a data set.
Median
Is the middle number of the data put in order, or the mean of the middle two numbers.
Mode
Is the number or numbers that occur most often.

Negative numbers
Represent data that are less then 0. A negative number is written with a -sign.
Positive numbers
Represent data that are greater then 0. Positive numbers are written with a + sign or no sign at all.
Opposites
Are numbers that are the same distance from zero on a number line, but in opposite directions.
Integers
Their opposites, and zero are called integers.
Factors
Are the numbers that are multiplied to get a product.
