What is meant by V02 max?
A
- Maximum amount of oxygen taken in, transported and used in one minute
- An accurate measure of our aerobic capacity, since it measures how much oxygen is available for aerobic ATP synthesis

What are some factors that contribute towards V02 max?
A
- Lifestyle
- Training
- Age (V02 max decreases with age)
- Gender
- Genetics
- Body composition (higher percentage of body fat decreases V02 max)

What are the advantages to working at a higher V02 max?
A
- Only applies to aerobic events
- Means they can exercise at higher intensity whilst still using aerobic energy system
- Oxygen is therefore used more for energy/ATP production
- Less anaerobic waste product as OBLA is delayed
