UX Research Module 1 Flashcards
UX research can be found at which step of the UX Design Cycle
UX research can be found at every step of the UX Design Cycle
What are the 4 phases of the UX design cycle
Analyze, Design, Prototype and Evaluate.
Which design phase does UX Research dominate
the Analysis Phase
How does The Design Phase benefit from UX research
the insights and tools derived from the analysis phase
What should the problem statement describe
the gap between the current situation
and the desired situation.
What are the 4 “Why’s”
Who is experiencing the problem?
What is the problem?
Where does the problem present itself and why does it matter?
Good problem statements are:
- Centered on the user;
- Broad enough not to point to a specific solution just yet;
- Specific enough to be manageable.
what is deductive reasoning
- It gives answers to the original problem through the validation or invalidation of one or more hypotheses
- hypotheses are formulated before the data is collected
- The subsequent data collection is structured in a way to test these hypotheses.
- used when conducting
descriptive or causal research
5.aims to describe the frequency of a phenomenon
or the existence of a relationship between variables.
What is Causal research
It aims to study the cause and effect relationship
that might exist between two variables.
What are the 3 variables of Deductive reasoning
- dependent variables,
- Independent variables ( influences the dependent variable)
- control variable
What is inductive reasoning?
- data is collected first, then conclusions
are made based on that data. - typically use inductive reasoning when conducting
exploratory research. - Its common at the start of new product development.
What does the theory of planned behaviour suggest?
That three independent variables
attitude, subjective norms and perceived behaviour control impact intention, which in turn, impacts our behaviour and it
shows that there is an indirect relationship between perceived behavioural control and behaviour, and that the three independent variables are interdependent.
What are the six human factors central to usability?
- Learnability
- Efficiency
- Rate of errors by users
- Retention over time
- Subjective satisfaction
- Relevance
What are the 2 approaches to sampling
-
Probability sampling
(all members of the population have a chance
to be randomly selected in the sample) - **Non-probability sampling **(not every member of the population has a chance
to be selected in the sample, and selection is not random; it is based on convenience.)
The ideal report is:
easy to understand, convincing, and actionable.
