What is dialysis?
Dialysis is a treatment for kidney failure, in which a machine filters toxic substances from the blood instead of the kidneys.
What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition where blood glucose concentration is not controlled properly by the body.
What is insulin?
Insulin is the hormone, produced in the pancreas, that reduces blood glucose concentration by making cells absorb glucose from the blood.
What is an immunosuppressant?
An immunosuppressant is a type of drug that reduces the responses of the immune system.
What is the purpose of immunosuppressants?
Immunosuppressants ensure that ‘foreign’ organs (like a transplanted kidney) are not fought by the immune system, preventing rejection.
