They both try to establish rules to benefit society.
Rule utilitarianism = Do not steal
10 commandments = You shall not murder

Bentham’s focus on pleasure is very individualistic and can be quite selfish. Religions - and Christianity particularly focus on improving things for all - eg charity

Utilitarianism wants the greatest good for the greatest number whereas religion wants the greatest good for all

Utilitarianism is a secular ethical system whereas religion/Christianity has the authority of God
