It was in a better position than most of Europe that was decimated by WW2. It had 7.5 million well - equipped soldiers by 1945

It was most of the states that Russia took in WW2, such as Poland, Ukraine and some puppet states such as Hungary and Romania
What was the function of the Soviet Bloc?
These were seen as buffer zones between Russia and other capitalist countries
What were the ‘salami tactics’?
Bolsheviks joining other left wing groups like socialists and liberals so they have a foothold in their countries, then isolating and eliminating their rivals by a ‘slice and dice’ method
What was the Katya Forest Massacre?
In 1940 Poland is too influenced by the mass of military and political communists, so 22,000 captured Polish army officers were killed in in the Katya Forest Massacre to eliminate Poles that didn’t agree with Communism
What was the Warsaw uprising?
The Red Army was going to send aid to the AK to remove German influence in Warsaw, but due to ‘operational difficulties’ they didn’t get their. For 63 the AK fought till all of them were crushed and Warsaw was razed from the ground
What happened to politicians who opposed the communist influence?
They were taken out, such as the communists being supposedly involved with the death of the Czech PM
