Using Parallel Structure Flashcards
is a balance within one or more sentences of similar phrases or clauses that have the same grammatical structure.
Parallel Structure
this gives clarity, coherence, and unity in both speech and writing. As a rule in sentence construction, this states that words, phrases, or clauses, when used in enumerations and with conjunctions, should have the same grammatical forms in sentences.

Tips in Checking for Parallelism
Use words of similar forms consistently. Do not mix them.
Make sure that all items in a list follow the same form.
Maintain the structure used for parallelism. A parallel structure that begins with clauses must keep on with clauses or a pattern that started with the active voice must not be changed to passive voice in the end, etc.
