What is Glucagon used for?
Hypoglycaemia if unable to cannulate for administration of Glucose 10%
What is GTN used for?
• Suspected acute coronary syndrome

What is compound sodium lactate (Hartmann’s) used for?
• Traumatic hypovolaemia (Protocol T10) • Traumatic cardiac arrest
• Burns with TBSA > 25%
• Medical hypoperfusion/hypotension (Protocol M25)
• Meningococcal septicaemia
• Moderate to severe anaphylaxis and allergic reactions
• Moderate to severe dehydration
• Sepsis
• Cardiogenic shock
• Diving emergencies
• To keep IV patent and flush medications
What is Metaclopramide used for?
• Severe nausea and/or active vomiting in patients > 16 years of age where ondansetron has been ineffective after 10 minutes or is contraindicated.
What is Morphine used for?
• Pain management
• Post intubation sedation
What is Naloxone used for?
• Life threatening opioid overdose
• Opioid overdose
• Etorphine or Buprenorphine overdose
What is Salbutamol used for?
To relieve bronchospasm
What is Aspirin used for?
Suspected acute coronary syndrome
What is Midazolam used for?
• Control seizures
• Post intubation sedation
• Limb realignment and/or difficult extrication
• Patient management
•Management of distressing psychological reaction post ketamine unresponsive to reassurance after consultation with AMRS
What is Methoxyflurane used for?
- Moderate to severe pain in patients where a paramedic is not authorised to administer an opioid or an opioid is contraindicated
• Mild pain in patients > 1year of age and < 12 years of age
• Multiple victim situations
• Initial pain management in environments which may present with safety
concerns to facilitate prompt patient movement
• Second or third line pain management where previous medication has not
achieved the desired outcome - Active labour
What is Oxygen used for?
• Hyperventilation
• As a supplement in illness or injury to maintain tissue oxygenation
• Drive gas for the administration of nebulised medications
• Concurrently with and following administration of other medications
e.g. midazolam, morphine or fentanyl
• Respiratory distress or hypoxia
• Carbon Monoxide poisoning
• Venous air embolism
• Obstetric emergencies
• Diving emergencies
• Hypoventilation
• Respiratory or Cardiac arrest
What is Paracetamol used for?
• Mild pain
• Low acuity patient specifically:
• Strains and sprains of the ankle/foot
• Localised dental pain
What is Ipratropium Bromide used for?
- Moderate to severe asthma
