• Wanted to use government money to set up programs to create jobs so people would have more money (New Deal),,
• Governor of New York in 1928 & spent $20 million on home and work relief
• Hoover = “do nothing president” ,, laissez faire created poor income distribution between rich and poor,, “in hoover we trusted and now we are busted”,, depression lasted for 3+ years “prosperity is just around the corner”.
