The Upper Mississippi River Valley AVA, covering 29,914 square miles (77,477 square kilometers), (19,144,960 acres) located along the Upper Mississippi River and its tributaries in northwest Illinois, northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota and southwest Wisconsin.

Cole Ranch AVA, found in Mendocino County, at only 62 acres (25 ha). All planted land in the appellation is owned by one winery, Esterlina Winery. Cole Ranch is located within three larger appellations - Mendocino AVA, Mendocino County, and the North Coast AVA.
