The plan for governing our nation was adopted in 1787
Constitution
A system of government where the national government has certain powers the states I’m have certain powers, and some powers are shared by both the national and state government.

This compromise created a legislative branch with two houses, descendent (two senators per state) and the house of representatives number of representatives based on population

Is compromise allowed states to count 3/5 of their slaves to determine the states population

Guarantees freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press and freedom of assembly

First 10 amendments to the Constitution, which guarantees certain basic rights to all Americans

This branch has the job of proposing, debating and voting on laws. This branch includes the Senate and the House of Representatives

When Congress has voted to approve a bill, it doesn’t become a law until the president signs it. If the president doesn’t want to build to me, law, she/he can refuse to sign it. This is called a veto. When a bill is V toad, I can only become a law if two thirds of the Senate and the home of representatives vote you override the presidents Veto
