People have the ultimate authority. People express popular sovereignty by voting in elections.
What is Separation of Powers
The national government is separated into 3 branches and they each have separate powers.
Separation of Powers: Executive
Appoint federal officials: make treaties; ensure all laws are carried out; recommend laws.
Separation of Powers:: Legislative
Passes all federal laws; establishes all lower federal courts

The process of the courts hearing an appeal i a court case and the court may declare law.

What is expressed powers?
Powers directly withing the Constitution (army)

What is implied powers?
Powers that are reasonably suggested by the Constitution (Air Force)

What is inherent powers?
Powers belonging to the National Government because it is a sovereign nation
What is concurrent powers?
Powers that belong to both fedreal and state. Example: power to tax
