What is required to penetrate civil controlled airspace at night?

A

An ATC clearance, and penetration of civil controlled airspace requires a VHF and VOR radio. Flight plans (for VFR fight at night within other than USA controlled airspace) should be submitted at least one hour prior to proposed takeoff.

**Flights within USA controlled airspace or uncontrolled airspace,no night VFR(VN) flight plan has to be FILED or addressed to AFOD. AP/2 has US Army Exceptions

Bridges and similar structures as well as overhead power lines shall not be under flown by aircraft

What is the deconfliction line(DL)?

A

A barrier beyond which VFR flight will not be permitted without diplomatic clearance and / or appropriate ATC clearance.

The requirements for the DL can be found in the Enroute Supplement and FCG.

Call AFOD if in doubt about requirements to cross DL!!
