Urodynamics Flashcards

1
Q

risk of UUT with bladder capacity and bladder pressure

A

There is some evidence that a bladder capacity < 200 mL and detrusor pressures over 75 cm H2O are independent risk factors for UUT damage in patients with SC

Q

compliance

A

 Allowed to have increase of 1cm H2O for every 40mls infused up to 400mls capacity
 Or around 2.5cm H2O for every 100mls infused

Q

filling rate

A
  • Physiological filling rate is weight in kg / 4 which is approx. 20mls/min
  • Can try faster filling rate to provoke DO to see on trace
  • Idiopathic can fill at 50mls/min

mcguire papre

A

 McGuire Journal Of Urology 1981
 Prognostic Value of Urodynamic Testing in Myelodysplastic Patients
• Intravesical pressure at time of urethral leakage was 40cm water or less in 20 patients, and more than 40cm water in 22 patient
• No patients in the low pressure group had VUR and only 2 showed ureteric dilatation
• In the high pressure group 68% showed VUR and 81% showed ureteric dilatation

Q

UDS in neuropaths

A

Video-urodynamic is the gold standard.

BP monitoring in patients with risk of autonomic dys-reflexia.

The rectal ampulla should be empty of stool before the start of the investigation.

Discontinue drugs that influence LUT at least 48 hours before the VUD.

A physiological filling rate and body-warm saline must be used.
